(If this message appears twice, I apologize... the first time I
attempted to post, I got a "page cannot be found error")

Anyway, can anybody living in or around Columbus, Ohio (Westerville,
Worthington, Dublin, etc.) tell me where arcades and game rooms were
located in the 80s? I'm not talking mall arcades, I'm interested more
in the arcades in small shopping centers and free standing structures.

And what do these buildings operate as now?

I was driving around in the city over the weekend, and I got to
wondering if I was driving right by former arcades and not knowing it.

Also, I discovered that the Mean Bean Coffee Cafe in Delaware Ohio had
been an arcade. Interesting to note that they have original models of
Centipede and Ms.PacMan cocktail tables to play currently...

Let's see, off the top of my head...

Funway Freeway was (last) located next to the Swensen's Ice Cream near
Eastland mall. (assuming the Swensen's is still there)

There was an Aladdin's Castle in Eastland, Westland, and Northland
malls, as well as the tiny Westerville mall where Staples and Kohls
are currently. (1 block north of 270)

There was a 'Laser One' in the Continent shopping center.

Malibu Grand Prix was just West of 71, and just South of 270. (I'm
sure you've seen it while driving around)

There used to be PuttPutt Golf and Games on Morse road, East of
Northland, on Georgesville just South of Broad street, and on Frank
road West of Eastland Mall.

There were independent arcades in the strip mall in the Northwest
corner of Cleveland and Morse, Southland mall, and on High street just
North of Campus (The Pink Flamingo).

The largest square footage Aladdin's Castle I ever visited was in
Lancaster, Ohio. That room had to be 15,000 square feet.

I'm sure I've forgotten a few, and I'm equally sure the half dozen
Columbus collectors will chime in and remind me of them.

1. Time Out Amusements on High St., just north of Lane Ave.

2. Flamingo on High St. just south of Lane Ave.

3. forget the name, but it was in Northern Lights shopping center near where
Radio Shack is now

4. several arcade set-ups in flea markets (still around, including South
Expo)

5. my favorites were in Sears in Eastland Mall (although I recall other
Sears having them--always near the front door), and K-Mart (in a separate
alcove, converted into TV land when arcades stopped being hot)

Dane.
