I felt this board played VERY well.. far better than any of the other
emulator boards i've seen. Robotron etc showed no delay whatsoever, and
the menu system is great as well. All around the best stab at a brand new
multigame i've seen yet IMHO.

I think the reason this board plays better then other emulators is
because it is more of a hardware emulator then a software emulator as far as
I can tell.

I may be wrong, but it looks to me that this hardware actually runs the
original software right. This is to say I believe the hardware is a 6809
based design (ilbeit in FPGA or the like) and the code is 6809 code. I have
not investigated this to be certain, but if this is the case then this
really should not be called an emulator in the normal sense.

I would think of it more as a bootleg of the original hardware if this
is the case.

If anyone has looked into this further let us know or if the designer...
hint hint wants to let us know the details of this that would be
interesting.

Okay, I'll add to "It's very good."

"It's got a great beat, and you can dance to it."

Modes:

Arcade- accepts credits.

Home- free play, pause feature that can be assigned to one or two
player button. Dims screen when paused- nice.

Installation:

Easy. jamma. Website has pinouts. No instructions though. To access
service mode there is a jumper on the board. I don't know if a
service/ test switch can be installed. Anyone?

Gameplay:

Gameplay is identical on Robo, Joust, Stargate, Defender. Never owned
or played Bubbles (pretty cool game) or Splat! (No clue on how to play
this.)

Sound is identical.

Graphics are identical.

SAVES HIGH SCORES- this was the dealbreaker for me. Other "six in
one" or "three in one" boards lack this feature. No, I'm not talking
about Clay's.

Menu system:

To select a game move joystick left or right to select and then press
one or two player.

I went with the Jamma setup because I'm sick of my 20+ year old boards
failing. I have little abilities for repairs. Of course only time
will tell if this board is prone to failure.

I'm using a Robo cab with one Robo panel and one Stargate panel.

I am VERY pleased with this product.

Questions, comments, complaints? Post it or email me.

Thanks!

How do you play Joust?

How do you play Joust?
Currently I have the one player flap button hooked to the 2nd
player start button. I plan on adding one button to the right of the
left joystick for the one player flap and keeping the two player start
buton for the second player flap. I feel that this is the least
invasive. Originally I was going to use a Joust panel too, but it's
too much switching. I don't like using one panel. I like the
Defender style joystick just the way and where it is. :)

Say What? If you have it wired right the player 2 flap button on joust
would be the smart bomb, yes it doubles and the 2 player flap. Try it!
